Hi, we've been mixing Indian music with electronic dance music for a few years now and have been getting some interesting results. What gear do you use? We're running a studio based around a Soundscape REd HDR and a Mackie Digital 8 Buss desk. We've got a couple of quite nice mic's (AT4033 and a C414) which we've had some quite good results with. I play a (very) little bit of tabla and we've had a sitar player in once or twice (again a total learner) but we've enjoyed what we've managed to produce. Feel free to email me at louis@brokendrumrecords.com. Louis |

hi, i only just started to record properly (during the last few months). before that, my recordings were just live feeds from my mixer into my minidisk recorder. since i play live a lot, i thought that this was good, but during the last 10 months i have been really getting into recording. i thought hard about going into computer recording. i did a few midi songs using cubase, but then i decided to go for a digital hard-disk recorder. i just recently (about 2 months ago) bought a ROLAND VS1880. its a great machine. i play many different styles of indian music-classical, bollywood, bhajan and garba mainly, but so far i have only recorded a few bollywood songs and have done a little bit of garba recording. i have not had a great deal of time because of school, but no summer holiday starts on friday, so hopefully i'll get a lot more time. here is a list of my equiment. if u want to know more about my recording techniques louis, then let me know. That's not a bad set up at all, have you posted any of your recordings on the net? We've got a whole stack of stuff at http://www.besonic.com/secretarchives, we've found BeSonic to be a really good site, let me know if you post anything.Where abouts in the UK are you? Louis |
