Exactly. Diri is a very fast up/down bol. I know some use it on chikaris but I never did. To me it sounds a bit weird.

Re: Review of fret tying strings.

...use monofilament...I used South Bend brand ten 4.54 kilogram/10 pound test monofilament. This isn’t anything special, just something I keep around the house for odd jobs and hanging things.... The only drawback is that monofilament isn’t pretty or shiny. Monofilament is NOT the way to go. Over t...

Re: Traditional Rudra Veena Improvements?

I added a second gola to the lower tumba area but I honestly can hear no difference between the two positions. My stomach can feel the difference, though!

Re: Traditional Rudra Veena Improvements?

I've thought for many years about a movable lower tumba (the one under the bridge) allowing one to slide it back and forth. This could help lock in the ideal distance and also could be used to compensate for gaining/losing weight and the attendant girth changes one can undergo.

Re: Hiren Roy Sitar for sale

Actually there has been more than one "original badge" of Hiren Roy over the years. Just as in the antique trade, one looks at the details of the item first and badge last as badges/signatures etc. are too easy to to fake or swap. Regarding this one, In his earlier days Barun used the last white/gol...

Re: Hiren Roy Sitar for sale

Stick-on transfer? Not in the least. It is a real badge. I guess you haven't seen the real Barun badge he's been using the past few years. It is actually quite handsome as it blends nicely with the dark tones of a typical Barun sitar.

Re: Meend and a moving bridge.

Yes you can use light glue like Kalyan is saying. But I think there is no need to glue the bridge if it is properly fitted. The string tension will hold it in it's place even with big meends. On both my sitars the bridges are not glued and I never have a moving bridge. Having a non glued bridge mak...

This is not to diminish Lars, who is extremely knowledgeable and ethical. But just to even things up, Musician's Mall does the same thing. The original staff from AACM is still at Musician's Mall. The team consists of four people with over 110 years combined experience (I have 43 years myself). We c...

Re: Is This A Hiren Roy ??????

Unfortunately, it looks like no Hiren I have ever seen. Carving is off to me and the penwork is especially off. Also the badge, short and floating in the middle of all that space. :(
