Origin of this Sarod

Post by theClassicFreak » Wed Dec 28, 2011 7:44 pm

I have an ancestral sarod at my home whose lineage I cannot determine correctly
here are the specifications
http://ge.tt/9JCnNiB?c
1.8 pegs
2.longer steel plate than sarod nowadays and wider body
3.13 sympathetic strings
4.no "Golap Kans" but rather round tanpura like pegs
5.larger drum

any help will be welcome.

Most likely it's a Durgadas Sharma sarod, e.g. see the sarod on this page:

I have tried relating to it earlier, the length of the instrument and the size of the drum comes close but I'm still perplexed with the 13 sympathetics which is pretty rare
