Sarod picking

Post by TirakitAlex » Fri Aug 24, 2012 11:42 am

Hi all

Does anyone have any links/insights into sarod picking styles? I very specifically DON'T mean what is commonly, but wrongly called 'sarod picking techniques' by electric guitarists - and is of course the first three pages of results on Google.

Particularly I was interested in what you do when you change a string - must the first note on the new string always be a downstroke? That is certainly the case in other instruments (oud, gypsy jazz guitar) that I'm familiar with, where you're striving for volume and projection. Also true of the sarod?

All the best, TrktA
Datta. Dayadhvam. Damyata. Anyone know the fingering for this?
