interesting and a pretty piece, but what's the difference from a sursringar besides tarafs?
Sursringar is played less passionately than sarod. Is this played with a regular sarod jaba?
would love to hear a sound sample!!!

good looking and sounding. except for the large hole in the center it is not much different than my mohan veena, an invention of my guruji radhika mohan maitra more than 50 years ago. i do wonder why there is an allauddin type extra bridge attached. actually these instruments are mini sursringars. i am happy to see intellegent inovations. sincerely, michael robbins

coyoote- sursringar is quite a bit larger than a sarod and tuned lower... some very old sursringars have a goatskin tabli, so it's really the size/pitch difference that makes the distinction. :)

(and watch some videos of Joydeep Ghosh play sursringar... can be played with all the passion of a sarod!)

This has already been designed by Pt. Radhika Mohan Moitra ages ago.

Hi, all.

Very exquisite small scaled sursrngar(?) !: I'd also love to see that in a natural-wood finish!

Q: Are those (somewhat guitaresque) a circular soundhole and output jack?

Yes, James S. Hamilton's book (Sitar Music in Calcutta) details that RMMaitra design alongside 2 others but offers no images. Yes, the (original) MohanVina.

Thank you
Have fun,
Y.
