Buying sarod in the UK

Post by greenhorn » Thu Nov 10, 2016 2:38 pm

I live in the UK and would like to start learning the sarod. Can anyone give me advice on where to purchase a decent instrument, either new or used?

Many thanks

Hi from t'north Nelson near Burnley - not very far from Manchester.!!!
I have a teak wood HEMEN original here at home - no damage & rekinned when I bought it in Varanasi a couple of years ago.
Lovely old thing.
Please send me an email as this site is saying my pics are too big ?!?!?!?!

Hi Nick, many thanks for your reply. Is it the same sarod that you advertised on Gumtree? I found a photo of that one on the net. From the photo it looks like it doesn't have the usual shiny steel fingerboard though - am I right?

STEEL fingerboard??? MMM Haven't seen a steel one before.
Might well be one I had on gumtree - I'll have to see.
