Import duty on sitar shipped from France to the US

Post by katyrow » Wed Jun 08, 2016 5:40 am

Can any of you give me some guidance on what to expect? I want to be careful because the instrument is very badly damaged, probably worth little to nothing in its current condition, and may not even be repairable. Thanks.

4%-ish depending upon how they list it. If you're sending via FedEx, etc. then there's a broker fee. Have them send as a sample if there's not much value and it doesn't matter. Broker fees around $100. YMMV on this depending on who they use to ship.

Thanks Lars! It's completely trashed, but looks like a fun project. Much appreciated.

Hey Nick -- It was the one I posted in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13853

Ended up being in perfect condition when I got it aside from the destroyed tumba. Good as new now.
