Help finding a new/old upper tumba

Post by consusitar » Sun Sep 25, 2016 3:57 pm

Hi all!
Recently my boyfriend presented me an old sitar. The instrument is pretty old and some parts are not in the best condition but as I use to work restoring old furniture I think I will do a great job repairing this fantastic instrument.
The only important thing which is missing is its upper tumba and I already have start looking for one....a hard mission :o ! I have contacted the main suppliers here in Europe (which have been very profesional and helpful) but unfortunately no one of them have any available.
I also contacted Nick which I think is located in UK but he just ignored my facebook messages :( .
Anyone knows where to get an upper tumba for my sitar in Europe? I am looking for a tumba design who will match the current decoration of my sitar. Maybe someone has one extra tumba which can sell to me  ?
The decoration of my sitar's tumba is very similar to the one in the following link: http://www.raincitymusic.com/jaipur/jai ... 0tumba.jpg

Thanks!

I can have one made to match exactly if you want, just email me through the site if interested.

Was this resolved, I have a spare one, not the same design but will probably fit in ok. Spun wood, so Lars one would be better quality, made with a gourd, but then what is the quality of the sitar...?

pm me for details if you are still looking.

Hi, just recently decided to give up my upper tumba - makes travelling little easier- so I am willing to sell it. Live in outskirts of Europe, so shipping it shouldn't be a problem. Let me know if you are interested. It is a Naskar from 1978. When I took it out I noticed that it has a hairline crack, but it doesn't show unless you really inspect it.
