Hi,

I was wondering if the Jawari Strings are supposed to touch the fret, if not, how do I fix this? Please see attached image:

The jawari strings are not supposed to touch any frets.

Options i'd consider to achieve the needed clearance:
- lower the jawari bridge by evenly sanding down the feet
- re-drill the jawari string holes in the main bridge so they're lower, then re-string
- simply remove the frets that are interfering, they're not needed anyway
- sand down the two main bridge feet so the main bridge sits a few millimeters lower than it is now

It's difficult to know the best remedy because the picture doesn't show the how the strings relate to each bridge. A picture of the bridges would be helpful.

Ideally, replacing the bridge with a custom fit piece would fix the problem. More than likely, a basic bridge was pulled from a drawer or box of bridges and slapped on the instrument. From what I can make out from the pics, you might get away with just shoving the bridge over to the side 1/4" +-. As the outer most ( longest ) taraf string is the primary offender, you could also just remove it if all else fails. I could make a bridge for you that would have lower taraf holes and slightly closer spacing - both problem solvers. You would have to mail me the bridge so I could use it as a template for overall height and top string curve and spacing. If interested, message me here. Good luck with it.
