Thanks West - I have PDF'd the article for posterity. A few interesting things I had not previously heard. I especially love the sweet seed/bad gourd tidbit!

"I wasn't allowed to do a meend for years": reminds me of classical art training: charcoal only for ages, statues only (no live models) for years, etc.
