Rudra Veena available

Post by westsea » Tue Mar 26, 2013 2:43 am

A rare, classic bamboo Rudra Veena is for sale.
It is from the estate of Peter Weismiller, who, sadly, passed away in January.
For information on Peter, and to read his paper, The Been and Beenkars: An Historical Perspective, please see:
http://www.rudraveena.org/peter_weismiller.html

The description of the instrument is:
"Probably to PD Shah's specifications, with wax mounted frets,
bamboo neck and large gourds, around 1968. $2000."

Please private message me, if you have questions or are interested
in buying the been. It is being sold by the Weismiller family.

Peter Weismiller's family has kindly contributed a new photo of Peter...
circa 1969.

Incredible.

Peter was exploring the depths of Rudra Veena, when most people in the west
had barely heard of a sitar.

As far as I know, the estate instruments are still available.
See the Estate Sale topics, for details.

this rudra been looks to have been made by the same luthier that built one I sold to the Shrine to Music museum in Vermilion,S.D. if the dandi is still solid it's a real treasure.
