Sursringar strings and tuning

Post by Three5Seven » Mon May 12, 2014 2:38 pm

Does anyone have info on how sursringars are tuned and what string gauges are typically used? I just purchased a gorgeous sursringar, but I suspect there should be some thicker strings on here because none of the ones on it are appropriate for the low notes I hear in sursringar recordings (comparable to a surbahar, which uses a 0.046-048 for the kharaj)

I Googled the dickens out of it and I've found no technical info whasoever on sursringars... just general & historic info. So any help would be appreciated!

I suggest asking a sursringar player.
There's an email address on the Contact link of this page

Congratulations on getting one! It's a beautiful instrument.
