Electronic tanpura for dhrupad

Post by StVitus » Fri Apr 28, 2017 12:05 am

What electronic tanpura do people use for dhrupad? I use iTabla for sitar, but it won’t play at a tempo slower than 40bpm, which is too fast for my surbahar alāps. I haven’t found an app that can play slow, go down to A, and sounds good.

you can use any of the usual suspects: raagini shruti boxes, itanpura, etc. if you want any of these to sound better, play them through something with a bigger speaker.

iTablaPro can go as low as A2 which is very low and lower than most electronic hardware I think. That should be low enough for your surbahar.

Tempo goes as low as 40.
