Staying in Mumbai - Help

Postby rafikafi » Mon Jun 25, 2012 5:51 pm

Namastee to you all.
(the subject "looking for a good teacher" was edited)

My name is rafi (surname), my main instrument is the 'Oud' and i'm planning to come to India for learning music on August and September.

i play Tabla for a few years and i have a little knowledge about raga system.

I'm planning to learn on the Oud, and i prefer a Sitar teacher (although the oud is more similar to sarod), but other teachers (sarod, vina..) are considerable as well.

i would be happy if you could recommend for me, a good teacher.

i thought about the incredible N.Rajam and about Pt. Arvind Parikh,
does somebody know if they are still teaching, and how to contact them ?

as you noticed, i didn't specify a certain geographic area, i will be happy to get any recommendation from you guys...

Thank You !!! :D

I would recommend Deobrat Mishra and Pandit Shivnath Mishra in Varanasi. They have an established academy, you can stay there and learn, it's a nice place too. Good friends of mine and reasonable fees.

Good luck!
