Raga Jog - which tala is the Dagar brothers' performance?

Also, does the Alap have a tala? I have to write a paper on Dhrupad and I'm pretty confused.

Seems to be Dhammar (also spelled Dhamar) - a 14 beat taal.

Alap does not have taal associated with it. Where a taal is a fixed rhythmic cycle, alap is the opposite and is as close to pure melody as you can get.

UPDATE - SCRATCH WHAT I SAID ABOVE AND SEE BELOW FOR TIVRA TAL.

Not sure about your question, but at approx. 00:20 it says Tivra Tal (after the pakhavaj player's name has faded).

Yes, it is Tivra Tal. Now that I know it I can hear it easily. Tivra is 7 beats. I think I doubled the cycle to get dhamaar. :oops:
