Help to identify large attached metal cymbal instrument?

Post by Hazine » Mon Mar 25, 2013 5:46 pm

I have a set of large metal attached double cymbals. There are matching sides and appear to be played by clapping them together. There are strings on both sets for hands. Can anyone tell me the name of this instrument. I was told it was an instrument from India.

They appear to be Moroccan qarāqib, though India may have something similiar unknown to me.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakebs
and http://www.google.com/search?q=qaraqib& ... 80&bih=497

Thank you! They are Moroccan. I got them from another dancer in a box marked India. I recognized the Kartals, finger cymbals and other items from India, but not this.
