Looking for Repair work

Post by christopher_smith » Thu Apr 24, 2014 9:44 pm

Hi,

I am looking for a luthier to restore a sitar and tanpura. Does anybody have any ideas of who to contact?

Need set up work, french polish, and a binding repair. How much does this kind of work cost?

Big thanks for any help!

Cheers,
cs

I could help you out but I am in the SF bay area, I hate to have these large instruments shipped for minor repairs but feel free to drop me a line , especially if you ever get up this way

Scott Hackleman comes down to Los Angeles about twice a year to do Jawari and general restoration work.
He can be reached at: hackleman@sitar-tabla.com
Send him an email and ask when he will next be in Los Angeles.
He usually shows up around this time of year.

He is a wizard at Jawari, and it awesome at restoration and repair.
I had him restore an old Naskar and he did an amazing job.
He even built me a new Stag horn jawari for it.
Here is the restored sitar for reference.

hi,

Thanks for your reply, I have had work done by scott in the past. I have emailed with no reply so I thought I'd see if there was anyone else.

Do you know when he is coming or if he'll be working at Paul's or Aloke's?

I will email again, and if you hear he's coming to LA let me know please ;-)

I will be eternally grateful!

cheers to you cwroyds.
