Ghatam Roll Technique Question

Post by talbert » Sun Feb 23, 2014 10:44 pm

I am a tabla player that just started playing the ghatam. I don't have a ghatam teacher but I have been using the dvd's by T.H. Vikku Vinayakram and Subash Chandran. I have a question about the technique used in the following Youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT-6R90fOKM

At around the 25 second mark he plays a roll (used throughout the video) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the specific finger technique he is using, discounting any dhins and thoms or other sounds near the top of the ghatam. Is it just Ta Ta Ka Ka repeated over and over? Or is it some other technique? If anyone knows, I would appreciate a very specific answer, something along the lines of "left index finger followed by the right index finger followed by etc. etc.".
