Pics of my Saraswati Veena

Post by povster » Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:33 am

So as I had previsouly posted, I picked up a Saraswati Veena from a Craigslist ad a few weeks ago for $300. It has turned out to be actually quite nice. Certainly not a "legendary" model but stable, pretty, and a nice tone, although I am still working on getting the right string combo for playing it as Rudra Vin.

Anyway - here are a few pics:

I just picked one up at a local antiques mall for $100. Pretty beat up, needs a lot of work but I'm on it. I'm very excited.

Hi, all.

Povster,
Congratulations! - looks very nice, and hope you'll get what you want from it.

If & when you please, I'd like to know about your evolving setup, as you may remember from previous threads: especially string gauge, length, tension, arrangement at nut/jawari.

Your impression on a metal jawari and of meend-on-a-flat-fret would be special points of interest.

Thank you in advance,
have fun.
