Hamid hussain - rare tracks

Post by DrKashyap » Fri May 31, 2013 3:11 am

Very rare clips of sarangi by U. HAMID HUSSAIN before he left Mumbai (INDIA). It also has a very rare track on the instrument he himself invented, known as HAMIDI. http://archiveofindianmusic.org/artists ... ain-a-i-r/

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.

You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.

Sorry that I kind of missed this at the end of May. What are the chances of reviving it, Doc?

I tried several different browsers and even shortened the address you've displayed up top, all with the same return message: "....page doesn't exist...."

It's working fine for me. I live in Kolkata.
BTW, I also missed it the first time in May.

@ OM GUY - seems it is some local problem, as people from different corners are able to access the link. In worst case, i may think to send the tracks by mail. Regards..

What kind of instrument is the hamidi?

It doesn't sound like any type of sarang.

Are there pictures of it available?

Hamidi is the invention of U. Hamid Hussain himself. It resembles Vichitra veena with one tumba & played with small glass bottle (rather than glass/stone ball). I am also curious to get its pic. It does not resemble sarangi, but experience/beauty of the fretless instrument is made use of.
