Some sad news....

Post by naad_brahma » Sat Aug 10, 2013 8:05 am

The legendary Padma Shree Sakar Khan has crossed over to the great beyond. He truly was the god of kamaicha and his shoes will be difficult to fill. ... -30-track1

I was fortunate enough to have my first steps in kamaicha under the watchful eye of Sakarji. He handed me my first kamaicha just over a year ago and I still am humbled by how easily. he could control such a challenging instrument. He was an equally charismatic human being and it is sad knowing I will not get the chance to see his smile again. Sakarji did leave behind some very talented heirs. His sons Ghewar, Dara, and Firoze are all virtuosos in their on right and will most definitely continue his legacy. In that way he may be gone but his music still lives.

Very sorry to hear this news. Ustad Sakar Khan Saheb's playing was heartfelt and magical. Thanks to Naad_Brahma for sharing his memories of the legend.
