new bows in the offing

Postby martin spaink » Fri Apr 18, 2014 8:36 pm

in between harpsichord repairs, I will finaly get around to make some more sarangi bows. In the pic: 4 blanks of Padouk, a lovely wood, and 2 blanks of Macaru which is heavier for those who like that; some boxwood for the turned finials; some Massaranduba (in Dutch called horse-flesh wood) for the frogs (at the very right edge of the picture). A few Sarangis coming in for repairs and tweaking. This one needs another inside cheek-piece, as the holes for the lower chromatic tarab pegs are way too big.
