Is it at all common to play the dilruba/esraj by plucking the strings, either with or without a mizrab?

Hi there, although it is possible to play the dilruba pizzicato for effect, but it isn't very commonly done. One of the reasons being the ineffective pull-meend and slide-ghaseet. For a demonstration of pizzicato dilruba (with mizrab), please see Ustad Usman Khan in this youtube video:
