This seems to be the immediate change over from the sarangi. Look at the big head accommodating big pegs for playing strings, small vertical pegs for jawari sympathetics in the crown. This is probably berofe guitar ( & its worm wheel type pegs) started influencing the asia. Also noteworthy is the application of two tumbas - one behind head, another on the shaft, chamber junction on rt side. This was personal modification. The things which are not visible are two jawari bridges(compared to one in usual ones), with the arranagement of non jawari sympathetics being taken out from the shaft thorough the eyelets like sitar.
The sound chamber is also big compared to what they are usually seen. IT seems only the shaft is changed, rest of the parts head end & chamber end are very much like that of sarangi.
