Is it just me or does Saturn indeed look like a giant Tabla from this angle ?

It does!

That must be the inspiration for the 42 beat Maha Shani taal. I have no doubt it is named so because landing a tihai after 42 beats takes as much effort as landing a spaceship on saturn!

Yes, Maha shani taal is closely related to, and in fact signifies
the starting period of the famous mahakaal time cycle
This does have celestial significance
and is closely aligned with the ancient vedic study of astrology
As you well may know, the ancient Indian philosophers made a concerted attempt
to find inter-relationships between their fields of study
