Radical departure

Consider playing two baayans
instead of a baayan and a daayan.
assuming you only play open handed bols like ga and ka
and do not use the fingers at all
perhaps din and some open handed variation of naa
and you could still use dir-dir
the advantage would be much simpler and more symmetric playing technique
and a much louder sound
with greater controls due to the added gamak on the daayan
Of course you would lose out on the definition of the higher pitched sounds
but it would be an interesting variation
Should sound like a refined dholak at least
